A Ceres woman was killed early this morning in Turlock after she drove her car against traffic in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 and collided with a truck, authorities said.
Just after 1 a.m., Harmanpreet Kaur, 55, was driving north at about 70 to 80 mph in the southbound fast lane when her Honda collided head-on with a Chevrolet truck traveling at approximately 65 mph, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision sent the truck off the right shoulder and into a ditch. The Honda went into the center median.
The driver of the truck, Jeffrey Wilson, 36, of Bakersfield, sustained major injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Modesto to be treated for nonlife threatening injuries. His passenger was taken Doctors Medical Center with minor injuries.
Kaur was pronounced dead at the scene.
Everyone in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
It has not been determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, which is under investigation.
Due to the large amount of debris, southbound Highway 99 was closed for about two hours.
