Modesto man receives time at rehab center

Dallas Brandon Rampley, 25, of Modesto got four years four months in the California Rehabilitation Center after being convicted of auto theft, evading a peace officer and possession of methamphetamine.

At noon April 7 in Modesto, an officer saw Rampley driving a white 1996 Honda Accord reported stolen earlier that day. When the officer tried to perform a traffic stop, Rampley accelerated away while ignoring numerous stop signs and traffic signals.

Rampley eventually stopped, jumped out of the vehicle and ran away. The officer was able to locate a fingerprint in the interior of the stolen car, later determined to be from Rampley.

On April 12, officers saw Rampley riding his bicycle and stopped him for his outstanding arrest warrant. A plastic baggie containing methamphetamine was found in Rampley's right front pants pocket.
