Two arrested in October stabbing in Modesto

Two suspected gang members were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stabbing a 43-year-old Modesto man in October.

Joaquin Garcia, 18, and Ramiro Rivera, 18, both of Modesto, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy with a gang enhancement, according to Modesto police Sgt. Rick Armendariz.

The victim was in alley Oct. 25 between Whitcomb Way and Garvey Avenue talking with five or six Latino men about gang affiliation, according to Armendariz.

For reasons that police suspect are gang-related, the Latino men attacked the suspect, stabbing him several times.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Two 17-year-old suspects were arrested shortly after the attack.
