$6,000 worth of cell phones stolen in Sonora

Multiple cell phones amounting to about $6,000 were stolen from a Sonora AT&T store early Wednesday morning.

The thief was caught on surveillance video from a security camera in the store, but the thief’s face was covered, said Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson. The suspect also was wearing gloves.

The burglary occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the store in the 100 block of Old Ward’s Ferry Road, just north of Highway 108.

Sonora police responded to a burglary alarm at the store. Officers arrived and found the thief had smashed the front glass door and entered the store.

Stinson said the thief then grabbed cell-phones before leaving.

Investigators ask anyone with information about this burglary to call Sonora police at 532-8141.
