Thanksgiving robbers make off medical marijuana and guns

The Merced County Sheriff’s Department said a theft of medicinal marijuana and six guns in Santa Nella spoiled the Thanksgiving holiday for a Santa Nella resident.

Sometime during the night, someone broke into a house on the 13000 block of Anacapa Road and stole the occupant’s medicinal marijuana. The theft was discovered Thursday morning when relatives came over to feed the pets and found all the bedroom doors open, along with a tiny window where deputies believe the suspects crawled through to gain entry.

About an ounce of marijuana was missing, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie. Also taken in the burglary were four rifles, a shotgun and a large caliber semiautomatic handgun, along with an Xbox360.

Nothing else in the house appears to have been taken, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 385-7472.
