An Oakdale police car and a pickup truck collided Monday on Highway 108, sending both drivers to hospitals with injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
The officer was driving westbound on Highway 108 just west of Crane Road about 12:30 p.m. when he noticed debris in the eastbound lane, CHP spokesman Eric Parsons said.
The officer tried to make a U-turn but a woman driving behind him in a Ford F-150 struck the rear left portion of the patrol car, Parsons said.
Oakdale police referred inquiries on the crash to the CHP, which was investigating. The names of the officer and the pickup driver were not released Monday afternoon.
The officer’s injuries were described as moderate but not life-threatening. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The pickup driver was treated for minor injuries at Oakdale Community Hospital, Parsons said.
