Two arrested after man stabbed in Modesto home

Two people are in custody after a man was stabbed multiple times in a north Modesto home Wednesday night.

Police responded to the 2800 block of Braden Avenue about 6 p.m. to reports of a stabbing victim, according to officer Scott Nelson.

Based on information obtained during the investigation, detectives identified two suspects. Jodi Matute, 24, and Edward Harry Constable, 22, both of Modesto, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into the Stanislaus County jail on $500,000 bail. Matute was also booked on suspicion of conspiracy, Nelson said.

Police will not say which suspect carried out the stabbing but describe the incident as domestic violence. Nelson said the victim and Matute are married but investigators do not think Matute or Constable lived with the victim in the Stonebridge Luxury Garden Apartments on Braden.

The victim is being treated for moderate injuries at a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to Nelson.
