Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies arrested a Modesto man early Monday in Hughson on suspicion of several drug-related felonies, authorities reported. Gonzalo Vega, 23, was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of transportation, sales and possession of concentrated cannabis. He also was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop at a stop sign and driving with a suspended license. His bail was set at $50,000. Patrol deputies assigned to a burglary suppression effort with Hughson Police Services arrested Vega after stopping his car about 12:11 a.m. near Hatch and Gilbert roads. Authorities said Vega was running stop signs and speeding. Deputies smelled the odor of what they believed to be marijuana from his car, authorities said, adding that they also spotted a black substance believed to be hash, or concentrated cannabis, in the car. A deputy with a drug-sniffing dog responded. The dog helped find bags of hash and about 2 pounds of marijuana buds, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
