Man shot in knee following argument in Empire

A man was shot in the knee following an argument this morning outside an Empire donut shop, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call at 1:50 a.m. of a fight between two groups in the 4700 block of Yosemite Boulevard, according to Sgt. Mike Parker of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

Parker didn’t know specifically how many people were involved, but said two groups arrived in two cars to get food. Words were exchanged, a few people ran and one person was chased down and shot.

The victim was taken to a Modesto-area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Parker said the victim was uncooperative. There is no suspect information at this point, he said.
