Modesto Christian boys, girls open NorCals at home

The Modesto Christian boys and girls basketball teams will host Northern California playoff games this week.

The pairings for the CIF NorCal basketball tournament were released this afternoon.

Seven Stanislaus District teams reached the NorCals, including the Amador boys (25-6) and Calaveras girls (25-6), who also open the tournament at home.

The Summerville boys, along with the Ripon Christian boys and Turlock Christian girls, will open on the road.

The MC girls (23-8) received the No. 2 seed in Division 4 and will receive a first-round bye. The Crusaders play their first game on Thursday night in Salida against the winner of Tuesday's game between No. 7 Marin Catholic (24-8) and No. 10 Anderson (21-8).

The MC boys (25-5), the eighth seed in Div. 4, open Tuesday at home against No. 9 Orland (20-9).

In other first-round games Tuesday, all starting at 7 p.m. unless noted:

No. 6 Amador in Division 4 will play host to No. 11 St. Patrick/St. Vincent (24-8) of Vallejo.

Summerville (24-5), the No. 10 seed in Division 4, will play at No. 7 Central Valley (18-10) of Shasta Lake City.

The Calaveras girls, the No. 8 seed in Division 4, play host to No. 9 Branson (26-6) of Ross.

The Ripon Christian boys (24-6), seeded ninth in Division 5, play No. 8 Mid-Peninsula (21-3) of Menlo Park. That game is at Kezar at 7:30 p.m.

The Turlock Christian girls (21-9), the No. 9 seed in Division 5, plays No. 8 Rincon Valley Christian (29-3) in Santa Rosa.
