Man critical after being shot in Patterson

PATTERSON — A man is in critical condition this morning after he was shot during an alleged break-in at a Patterson home containing a marijuana grow, authorities said.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the 1400 block of Carly Creek Drive in Patterson this morning at 1:30 after reports of a man being shot, according to Lt. Charles Grom.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim with a single gun shot to the upper body, Grom said. He was transported to a Modesto area hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Witnesses said they saw four males in the area wearing dark clothing and hoods, according to Sgt. Keith Rakoncza, a sheriff's department spokesman.

Grom said witnesses saw a Cadillac leaving the scene.

Detectives believe the incident may be related to the marijuana grow inside the home northwest of downtown.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Detective Frank Soria at 525-7080.
