City Councilmen Garrad Marsh and Brad Hawn, Bill Zoslocki, Armando Arreola — and now Robert Stanford — have one thing in common. They have all filed candidate statements for the Modesto mayoral election in November. Stanford, a community activist who fell short in council elections in 2007 and 2009, filed the paperwork last week. In the potential council races, Councilman Dave Lopez, Todd Aaronson and Charlie Grom are preparing to run for the District 3 seat; Councilwoman Stephanie Burnside — who was appointed to the council in November — plans to run in District 5; and Dave Cogdill Jr. is seeking the District 6 seat. Although the official filing period doesn't open until July, candidates must file papers in advance if they form campaign committees or accept contributions.
