Theron Sanders Sr.: Let the purging of Atwater City Hall continue
Re “Easier to criticize than to serve” (Letters, Feb. 22): The letter writer appears to be indigent with the exposure of the bumbling and incompetence that is the hallmark of Atwater government. Slowly, but surely, city hall is replacing the old guard – from police chief, to the last couple of city managers. The last-ditch effort by one of the good ol’ boys to preserve the status quo is crumbling.
Circling the wagons and attacking the messenger of bad news only shows the march to new leadership needs to continue. For too many years the residents of Atwater have had to live with the consequences of government at its worst. Who could be proud of a city hall that closes down every Thursday afternoon for the weekend. And what is one to think of their leaders who, year after year, borrow millions of dollars to balance the budget. Hiding one’s head in the sand and painting a flattering picture of denial. Scattered around our city are a few signs that read – “Hope for my city.”
I believe in hope.
