Rita F. Silva: Tax savings are only ‘crumbs’ if you’re a wealthy liberal

The Trump administration recently passed a tax bill that lowered taxes for all taxpayers. The liberals are complaining that it only benefits the wealthy and Nancy Pelosi referred to it as “crumbs.” I guess when you have a $100 million, an extra $200 dollars or so is crumbs, but to the average taxpayer it is extra money in their pockets that they get to spend however they want.

If you ask anyone if they think any form of government spends their money wisely, you will find very few who say yes. Of course, California is afraid that it will have less money to spend. Keep in mind that California has the highest combined tax rate in the country and, factoring in the cost of living, the highest poverty rate. This can only mean that they do not spend what they get wisely.

I will be willing to bet that not one wealthy person or politician will return their extra money to the government. The people who complain that the tax breaks only benefit the wealthy are politicians and the wealthy, but they are happy to take the money and run.
