Who can afford to pay $2,346 an inch for Crazy Train track?
I did the math on your article “Merced mayor makes case to rail authority” (Front Page, March 22), which states the 520 miles of high-speed rail line will cost $77,300,000,000. That’s $77.3 billion. This figures out to $148,653,846 per mile, or $28,154 per foot, or $2,346 per inch! Where are the funds coming from to pay for this ridiculous project? Taxpayers? Riders? Who?
