MARY ANN REYNOLDS: Disturbed at editorial

Editor: I was disturbed by your editorial Thursday regarding NPR, "NPR should sink or swim on its own."

I thought your description of NPR as a "radio network that leans so far left that we should all have vertigo listening to it" was far too extreme.

I listen to NPR every day because I find its reporting of current events and interviews provide me with well-balanced information so that I can form my own opinion on issues.

To depict NPR as being "smug and smarmy" (effusively earnest) is going too far. It makes me ask myself just how fair and unbiased is the Sun-Star.
