One of Merced County’s Most Wanted was read her “Miranda” rights Wednesday after a Sun-Star reader recognized the suspect’s photo in the newspaper and alerted law enforcement.
Suspect Miranda Lee Miranda, 27, was taken into custody by the Merced County Sheriff’s Department after investigators received an anonymous tip from a concerned resident. Miranda was wanted in connection with a string of recent identity theft crimes that had occurred in the Santa Nella, Volta and Los Banos area, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie, Merced County Sheriff’s spokesperson.Miranda was arrested at her home near Dos Palos on the 7500 block of Azuza Road.
Sheriff’s Deputy Dwayne Pavelski went to the home, where Miranda answered the door. Pavelski asked Miranda to identify herself, which she did. She was taken into custody without incident, MacKenzie said.
