A mistrial was declared Wednesday in the double homicide case of Robert Thompson, leaving families on both sides of the courtroom aisle with more questions than answers.
The 12 member jury, composed of six men and six women, was divided eight to four, with the majority of jurors voting for 42-year-old Thompson to be found guilty of two counts of first degree homicide.
Thompson remains in custody at the Merced County Main Jail, pending a bail review hearing later this month. A hearing to determine whether the Merced County District Attorney's office will pursue a new trial is scheduled for Feb. 29.
