Persuading kids to eat their veggies has plagued parents for generations.
But in recent weeks, Ada Givens Elementary School students haven’t needed any extra coaxing.
Pupils at the Green Street grade school have been helping themselves to green salad, apple slices, baby carrots and other items from a new produce bar, added to the cafeteria line at Givens two weeks ago. Merced City School District Director of Food Services Terri Soares said the mini-salad bar features a new selection of fresh fruits and vegetables in kid-appropriate serving sizes each day.
