Rain forecasted for Valley, snow in Sierras

Rain showers are expected across the Central San Joaquin Valley today, beginning before noon in the west and spreading eastward.

Radar showed rain clouds approaching Los Banos at midmorning, said Jim Dudley, a forecaster at the National Weather Service in Hanford.

Wet weather was forecast through the weekend. The weather service has also issued a snow advisory for the central Sierra above Oakhurst and Mariposa.

Light showers fell Thursday morning in the Fresno area but caused no unusual traffic problems. No fog visibility problems were reported according to the California Highway Patrol.
