ATWATER — At times, Raymond Garavito felt like the trial of the man accused of murdering his son three years ago would never begin.
Now with jury selection underway, he’s preparing to relive the shooting that left his son dead and his granddaughter fatherless. Merced County prosecutors say 31-year-old Felix Calderon, allegedly a gang member, pulled the trigger.
“I don’t have any hate or anger, but I want him to do some time,” the 58-year-old father said. “He took something precious from me.”
Calderon faces life in prison if he’s convicted of murder with a gang enhancement. The trial, expected to last about a week, should start Wednesday.
