Police arrrest woman in today's courthouse bomb threat

Merced police say they have made an arrest in a bomb threat that happened at the Merced County Superior Court building earlier today. Police arrested suspect Mary Frances Azevedo, 52, according to Merced Police Cmdr. Floyd Higdon.

Sheriff's deputies evacuated the Merced County Courthouse at 8:30 a.m. today, after the bomb threat.

The Merced Police Department's bomb squad was called to the scene, bringing with them a bomb-sniffing dog, according to Tom MacKenzie, Merced County Sheriff's Department spokesperson. After the area was determined to be safe and no explosives were found, MacKenzie said court staff were allowed back into the building at 9:30 a.m.
