Most Wanted arrested in Livingston

LIVINGSTON -- Jerry Wayne Baxter, a suspect on the Merced County Sheriff's Most Wanted list, was arrested in Livingston on Wednesday.

Members of the the department's Sheriff's Tactical and Reconnaissance (STAR) Team arrested Baxter around 11:45 a.m. on the 5600 block of Arena Way, according to Tom MacKenzie, sheriff's spokesperson.

MacKenzie said Baxter initially lied about his identity to deputies, who recognized his unique tattoos of skulls and faces.

Baxter was driving a stolen car when he was arrested -- a fact he volunteered to deputies, MacKenzie said. Baxter was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery. He was booked into the Merced County Main Jail on those charges, in addition to possession of a stolen vehicle.
