A massive grass fire between Highway 152 and San Luis Reservoir was contained at 10:34 a.m., firefighters from Cal Fire/Merced County Fire Department reported.
The fire was reported at 7:48 a.m. and burned about 780 acres. Luckily, no one was hurt and no structures were destroyed, according to Battalion Chief Brian Neely. The fire temporarily closed a section of Highway 152.
Between 15 and 20 fire engines were involved in fighting the blaze, Neely said.
