Merced County Supervisors cut funding for social services

Bracing for huge cuts in state funding, the Merced County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to eliminate more than $400,000 in social services spending.

Among the programs that will end next month as a result are one that tracks the county's homeless population, one that provides free babysitting for new foster parents attending classes on foster parenting and another that provides job training for the area's Southeast Asian Community.
