Two people accused of hitting a 61-year-old woman in the head with a baseball bat were arrested Tuesday.
Police said the suspects assaulted the woman over a dispute involving $25. Officers arrested suspects Desiree Ingraham, 18, and Michael Janes, 18, of Merced after responding to a residence on the 200 block of West 20th Street at 6:11 p.m.
Officers reported finding the victim with a large cut on her head and a possible broken wrist. The victim told police that the suspects, who are her neighbors, had come to her home to collect $25.
Police said the victim told the suspects that she didn’t have the money, then Ingraham hit in the head with the bat. Police said Ingraham took several dollars from the victim, then Janes hit the victim in the wrist with the bat.
