Suspect in robbery of Merced convenience store arrested in Stockton

Merced County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who they believe to be one of the suspects in an armed robbery at El Tareb Market last week.

Darnell Franklin, 36, of Stockton, was arrested by Stockton Police on Thursday. The robbery happened Thursday, Aug. 28, just after 10 p.m. Two men armed with handguns held up El Tareb Market near Stretch Road and Santa Fe Ave. in East Merced, taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

The investigation led detectives to Stockton, where they served a search warrant and found evidence and clothing allegedly linking Franklin to the robbery, according to a press release.

Franklin was not at home during the warrant search, but his girlfriend, Kameia Ervin, 29, of Stockton, was arrested at the residence, and booked into Merced County Jail on charges of being an accessory and harboring the alleged suspect. She remains in jail on $50,000 bail.

Franklin was found by Stockton Police on Thursday, arrested and taken to Merced County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of armed robbery with $250,000 bail.
