MERCED — University of California at Merced officials today released a draft proposal that illustrates and lays out campus expansion over the next several decades.
The report details the future of the 815-acre campus and how it will accommodate a projected 25,000 students.
Called the "Draft Long Range Development Plan," the document will guide the construction of academic buildings and student housing, streets and bike paths, a university medical center, parking structures, an athletic stadium and public transit, as well as the neighboring university community with its homes, parks, schools and retail stores.
Officials also released a draft report reviewing the environmental impacts of the development. Public comment on the draft environmental report starts today and will run through Jan. 7.
