Los Banos man who died in Friday collision is identified

The 31-year-old Los Banos man who died Friday afternoon when he lost control of his car near Los Banos was identified Monday, according to the Merced County Sheriff's Department.

Jeffrey Mack, 31, was killed when his car spun into an oncoming Suburban. Mack was driving south at 5:29 p.m. Friday along Highway 165 when his car drifted onto the dirt shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Paulo Pacheco, 35, of Los Banos was driving the Suburban. Pacheco and his three passengers were treated for minor injuries at a hospital. Both vehicles were reported to have traveled at about 55 mph.
