State Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced, announced this afternoon his candidacy for lieutenant governor of California.
"California stands at a crossroads," he said in a statement. "The unprecedented fiscal crisis we face is perhaps the greatest challenge in our state's history. But it also creates a historic opportunity to reform Sacramento, restructure state government and revitalize California’s economy.
"The status quo has failed. In order for California to be economically competitive in the 21st Century, and for our state government to operate efficiently and effectively, change is not an option, it is a requirement."
