DOS PALOS -- A Dos Palos man was killed during an industrial accident Wednesday morning.
Martin Valencia, 20, was killed just before 11 a.m. Wednesday when his jacket caught on part of an auger and he was crushed by the machine. The auger was being used to drill holes in the ground for fence posts at a farm in the 6300 block of Eucalyptus Ave., near Dos Palos. Valencia was assisting on the ground while another employee was sitting in the cab of the tractor, operating the controls. Valencia's jacket caught on a bolt on a shaft of the tractor and was crushed before the machine could be turned off, the sheriff's department said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
