Superintendent Melinda Hennes of the Atwater Elementary School District announced Thursday afternoon that the district’s administrative team voted to impose a three percent pay cut on themselves.
“Out of deep concern for the looming financial crisis facing our district and as a gesture of good faith and leadership, the administrative team, in an effort to lead by example, unanimously pledged to take a three percent reduction in compensation for the school year 2009-2010,” Hennes wrote in a statement.
There are 16 members of the administrative team, which includes two vice principals, eight principals, two directors at the district office, three assistant superintendents and Hennes.
Further in the statement Hennes said the pay cut was contingent on all other employee groups joining them.
