A Winton man was arrested after Merced County Sheriff's detectives said they found him carrying cocaine and methamphetamine and a stolen loaded handgun.
Brandon Vargas, 18, was arrested Monday after Detective Jason Cope pulled him over at Santa Fe Drive and Shaffer Road and discovered the loaded .22-caliber handgun, two grams of cocaine and a quarter-ounce of meth, according to the sheriff's department. A search warrant was then issued for his home, on the 6000 block of Golden Bobcat Court, where the STAR Team found three ounces of marijuana, digital scales and packaging materials for the packaging of drugs.
Vargas was booked into Merced County Jail on drug charges, possession of stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon. He has already posted the $140,000 in bail.
