A passenger killed Saturday when his driver lost control, sending their car into a field near near Firebaugh, was identified today.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Edwin Olivares, 21, of Firebaugh, was wearing a shoulder harness but no seat belt as he and his driver traveled east near the intersection of Nees and Washoe avenues. Their small car hit a guardrail, soared over a canal and struck the opposite embankment.
The driver, a 29-year-old from San Pablo whom officers did not identify, was taken for treatment of major injuries to Community Regional Medical Center.
