Merced County Sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate who walked away from John Latorraca Correctional Center during a work detail Wednesday.
Sheriff’s officials say Francisco Bandares, 40, was working in the jail's kitchen. He was taking out garbage from the kitchen around 5:20 a.m. and didn’t return to work, according to Sgt. Manuel Salacup
Bandares was a low-level inmate serving a sentence for a probation violation. He was due to be released July 1.
Deputies are asking anyone with information about Bandares’ whereabouts to call (209) 385-7444. You can remain anonymous.
