A 45-year-old Chowchilla man has been identified as the person killed in a single-car accident in the Madera area early Saturday, the Madera County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Charles David Lindsay was driving south on Road 19 near Avenue 19½ and was possibly under the influence of alcohol, according to the California Highway Patrol.
His car veered off the road and struck a mailbox before it flipped an hit a fence. The man was thrown from the vehicle, which landed partly on top of him. He was not wearing a seat belt, the CHP said.
