HILMAR -- Four people were arrested Saturday morning after a burglary was reported in Hilmar.

The owner of a home on the 7000 block of Lander Ave. in Hilmar drove by his property early Saturday and saw four people he didn't recognize standing in front of the house, which he rents to his daughter. He stopped to talk with the visitors and blocked their cars parked in the driveway.

Merced County Sheriff's deputies Micah Brawley and Preston Sanchez arrived a short time later and, after an initial investigation of the vehicles, found exercise and camping equipment belonging to the renters. Inside the home, the deputies found two duffle bags stuffed with the renter's property sitting next to the front door. One of the suspects, Jeremy Johnson, 36, of Turlock, was on parole. He was arrested, along with Tony Corbin, 40, of Empire; Melissa Warr, 21, of Turlock; and Rhonda Jolliff, 51, a transient. All four suspects were booked into Merced County Jail on $50,000 bail.
