The number of homeowners in Merced County that are more than 90 days past due on mortgage payments has increased since last year.
In August 2009, 18.12 percent of Merced County homeowners were 90-days delinquent in paying their home loans. That number was 14.22 percent at the same time last year, according to First American CoreLogic, a collector of national, state and local data on home prices, foreclosures, and delinquency rates.
Past due mortgages here are significantly higher than the state and national averages, which were 9.84 and 7.10 percent, respectively.
