A seminar on mistletoe and bark beetle pest management will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Stag Hall, 2884 Bear Valley Rd. in Hornitos.
The joint venture between the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the University of California’s Cooperative Extension offices of Mariposa and Merced counties will look at mistletoe and bark beetle biology, what constitutes a pest problem, proper tree care and other issues.
Speakers include Beverly Buloan, entomologist; Joel Egan, entomologist; and Martin MacKenzie, forest pathologist.
There’s no charge for the seminar, but space is limited, so preregistration is encouraged. Interested people can register by going to the Mariposa County Web site at http://cemariposa.ucdavis.edu/ or by calling (209) 966-2417.
