Fremont Charter School said it’s seeking donations for its “Socks for Soldiers” project, aimed at Merced-area troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The school said it named the effort the “Lukas Hopper Memorial Socks for Soldiers” project. Army Spec. Hopper died recently while serving in Iraq.
Donors are asked to bring their socks to the Fremont Charter School office by Friday, Dec. 11, at 1120 W. 22nd in Merced.
The socks will be given to the Operation Adoption Project in Atwater, then placed in packages to be sent to troops in the two war zones.
