The Hmong New Year celebration begins Friday at the Merced County Fairgrounds.
The event starts with a New Year parade at 10:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies and ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m.
The event is open to the public. Parking is $4 per vehicle and admission is $3. Children under 11 are free.
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Activities will include the Miss Hmong Merced Pageant, traditional Hmong courtship rituals, ball tossing and talent and culture shows. Games include soccer, volleyball, kator and top spinning.
