Update: Man robs Santa Nella truck stop of undisclosed amount of cash

A man robbed a Santa Nella truck stop Tuesday night and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, the sheriff’s office said.

Just before midnight a white male in his early 20s came into the Petro 2 Truck Stop in Santa Nella armed with a handgun and demanded money, Deputy Tom MacKenzie reported.

The suspect ordered a 29-year-old female clerk to the back of the store and into an office, where a 23-year-old female worker was counting money. The suspect ordered them to give him the money from the safe, the sheriff’s office said. Neither employee had access to the safe, so the suspect ordered them to give him the money from the cash registers.

While in the office, the suspect saw another employee enter the store. He ordered the girls to tell the employee to go to another part of the store so he could leave, MacKenzie said.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He’s described as white, about 20 years old, about 5-feet-8-inches tall weighing around 150 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black beanie, tan coat and gray pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Eric Macias at (209) 710-6005.
