Merced College said its Continuing Education Division is offering free non-credit classes throughout Merced County and surrounding communities.
The classes have no registration fees.
Students only have to provide for the cost of materials and parking fees, where applicable. Non-credit classes include arts and crafts, computer skills, short-term vocational, health and fitness, safety, ESL, disabled students, home economics and older adults, the college said in a news release.
“Horizon,” the spring 2010 schedule of Continuing Education classes, is available to the public online by visiting www.mccd.edu/programs/cont_ed. Look for the schedule in the Sun-Star this week.

Classes are available to adults 18 and older. Registration takes place in class, and many classes have open enrollment, which means you can enroll at any time during the semester, the news release said.
The spring 2010 schedule includes learning classes for older adults, such as Driver Improvement, Mind and Body Fitness, Ceramics and Stained Glass. Disabled students can select from classes designed to assist with mobility. There are also physical conditioning classes and aerobics classes for health and safety.
The college said many vocational courses are also available, such as Computers in the Workplace, Beginning Sign Language, Medical Assistant, Court Interpreter and English as a Second Language.
Classes are held in Merced, Atwater, Winton, Chowchilla, Mariposa, Livingston, Oakhurst, Turlock, Le Grand, Hilmar, Dos Palos and Los Banos.Most classes begin Jan. 18. For more information, call the Continuing Education office at (209) 381-6540.
