MCAG Director Joe Oliveira, Mayor Pro Tem of the city of Gustine, accepted an appointment from former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve on the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley. The partnership was established in 2005 by an executive order from Schwarzenegger to improve the region’s economic vitality and quality of life for 3.9 million residents. Oliveira joins 33 other board members, including elected officials, private sector representatives as well as top officials from a variety of sectors throughout the state.
“For the Valley to be competitive on a statewide basis, we must work with our valley partners,” Oliveira said in a anews release. “MCAG’s mission is to partner for regional solutions, my membership on this Board will not only follow that mission, but ensure Merced County’s voice is heard.” Oliveira’s first meeting will be March 11 in Stockton.
