Merced College Community Services said it’s offering the classes in cake decorating and “splashball” starting in March.
"Cake Decorating for Fun or Profit" begins Saturday, March 12, and will continue for four weeks from 3-5 p.m. at the Golden Valley High School Home Economics Room 4.
In the four-session class you will learn about frostings and fillings, borders and balloons, writing and flowers and basket weaving so you can make decorated cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings and other occasions. You can learn to make beautifully decorated cakes for family and friends and you might even be able to do cake decorating for a profit, the college said in a news release.
Students will need to take an 8-inch cake for decorating to the first class. For more information on class fees and instructors, call Community Services at (209) 384-6224.
"Splashball" is the newest aquatic program under the umbrella of the USA Water Polo organization. The program is designed to introduce 5- to 9-year olds to the basic elements of water polo and safety in the water. The class is taught at the Merced College pool on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 14 through May 18.
