Cooling centers to open throughout Merced County

Cooling centers throughout Merced County are being made available for residents to avoid the extreme heat. Temperatures in the Central Valley reached 100 degrees on Wednesday and are expected to remain high for the remainder of the week. Cooling centers will be available in the cities of Atwater, Dos Palos, Livingston, Gustine, Los Banos and Merced. Other centers may be opened on an as-needed basis.

Center hours will be extended as needed and announced through the local media.
