Wong’s homer leads Rancho Cucamonga to 4-1 win over Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) -- Connor Wong hit a two-run homer in the first inning, leading the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to a 4-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday.

The home run by Wong, part of a four-run inning, gave the Quakes a 2-0 lead before Devin Mann hit a two-run home run later in the inning.

Following the big inning, the Storm cut into the deficit in the second inning when Esteury Ruiz hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Gabriel Arias.

Elio Serrano (1-0) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Lake Elsinore starter Aaron Leasher (0-1) took the loss in the California League game.

The Storm failed to capitalize on some good scoring chances, leaving 13 runners on base in the loss. Tirso Ornelas doubled and singled for the Storm.
