Livingston volleyball plays well despite loss

Final scoreboards, at times, do little to tell you about the game, the teams and the athletes involved.

In the volleyball season opener against Hilmar last Tuesday, the Livingston High School Lady Wolves showed themselves team players even though the game wound up as an “L” on their overall season record.

They’ve had a lot of losses lately.

For the 2007 season which began in August, the Ladies have only come up with two wins in fifteen games played, but with games decided with small point spreads, does that really give you a clear picture of what’s happening on the court?

Senior Olivia Andam and junior Daisy Salgado seem to lead the Ladies in height and strength; almost too much at times, as their incredible power sends balls reeling past the foul line. Harnessing that power would likely prove to be key in future success as Andam’s kills at the net are a work of art.Stats for the game include: kills- Andam 8, aces-Selene Fuentes 3, Ashlee Thompson 3, assists-Salgado 10, digs-Fuentes 15, Blocks-Andam, Thompson, Rena Garcia.

The Lady Wolves played hard, losing the first, came back to win the second, fell the third and fought a hard battle the fourth.

Game scoring was 25-20, 23-25, 25-9, 25-21.

Livingston junior varsity won both their matches as the Frosh lost both of theirs.
