Portions of highways and roads will temporarily close Wednesday in Madera, Mariposa and Fresno counties for the Tour of California.
Motorists can expect traffic delays between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Merced, Madera, and Mariposa counties at:
South Bear Creek between McKee and Cunningham roads; Highway 140 between Cunningham Road and Mariposa; Highway 140 through Mariposa; Highway 49 between Mariposa and Nipinnawasee.
Between noon and 4 p.m. motorists in Madera and Fresno counties should be prepared for delays at:
Highway 49 between Nipinnawasee and Oakhurst; on Highway 41 between Highway 49 and Road 426 (Crane Valley Road); on Road 426 between Oakhurst and Road 223; on Road 223 to Road 221; on Road 221 to Road 200; on Road 200 to Road 211; on Road 211 to Road 206; on Road 206 to Friant Road.
The route will follow Friant Road from the town of Friant to Willow Avenue, then down Willow to Copper Avenue, then down Copper to Minnewawa Avenue; and from Minnewawa Avenue to Shepherd Avenue.
On Thursday, the tour will reach Tulare and Kings counties. The following roads will be closed:
Highway 99 offramp to Avenue 280, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Highway 43 at Avenue 232, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Interstate 5 offramps to Utica Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Highway 33 at Twisselman Road, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Highway 46 between Highway 33 and Highway 41, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Detour: use Highway 41 to Highway 33)
Other traffic delays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Caldwell Avenue/Houston Avenue from Akers Street in Visalia to 2nd Avenue; from 2nd Avenue/Road 36 to Avenue 232/Kansas Avenue; from Kansas Avenue to Avenue 101/2; down Avenue 101/2 to Utica Avenue; down Utica to 25th Avenue (at Interstate 5).
From there, the race heads down 25th Avenue to Twisselman Road, then down Twisselman to Kecks Road, down Kecks Road to Highway 46.
