The Merced College women’s basketball team clinched at least a share of the Central Valley Conference championship with an 85-62 win over Reedley College on Saturday.
Tajaheray McMahan led the way for the Lady Blue Devils with 27 points and seven rebounds. McMahan made 11 of 18 shots from the floor, including four 3-pointers.
Shea Glasglow-Williams (13 points), Suzuna Shoji (11) and Ayaka Nakashima (10) all finished in double-figures. Trinity Washington turned in a strong all-around game with eight points, 11 steals, seven rebounds and eight assists.
Merced College improved to 24-4 overall and 10-1 in the CVC. The Lady Blue Devils can clinch the outright title on Wednesday at Fresno City.
Antelope Valley 69, UC Merced 62 in Merced – The Bobcats dropped to 17-9 overall and 9-3 in the California Pacific Conference despite a 28-point effort from Mia Belvin.
Mia Shannon added eight points and 10 rebounds for UC Merced.
Antelope Valley 56, UC Merced 54 in Merced – Ronnie Kozak led the Bobcats (11-13, 7-5 CPC) with 16 points. Cole Taira added 11 points and now holds the program’s all-time career assists record with 185.
Merced College 6, Mission 5 in Merced – Ryan Frakes and Dylon Jackson homered as the Blue Devils improved to 5-2 overall.
Frakes went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs. Jackson had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Jefferson Gray pitched into the sixth inning to pick up the win, recording eight strikeouts.
